“I felt it is time to premiere my recent virtual reality stuff and am delighted to do so in Sydney,” says Bjork of one of this year’s most hyped art exhibitions. She has collaborated with some of the finest visual artists and filmmakers in the world – including celebrated artist and fashion photographer Nick Knight and Academy Award winners Spike Jones and Michel Gondry – for Digital Bjork.

The venue is Redfern’s super-atmospheric Carriageworks, the expansive industrial warehouse space that, after housing Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia in mid May, will be transformed into an edgy exhibition area with five unique spaces for two weeks of free, ongoing immersive experiential screenings and installations. It’s also the ideal arena for a dance party, hosted by Bjork – who will DJ – on June 3 and 4. There’s also a curated program of video work specifically remastered for the occasion.

Bjork History of Touches is the latest collaboration with video artist Chris Cunningham; just four audience members at a time will experience this incredible installation. Similarly, don’t miss Black Lake, an immersive virtual reality cinema experience directed by fashion and music filmmaker Andrew Thomas Huang, which was filmed in the highlands of Iceland. Or Mouthmantra, directed by Jesse Kandra, filmed from inside the diva’s own mouth.

Bjork Digital is presented as part of Vivid Sydney 2016 in collaboration with the Manchester International Arts Festival and is bound to be one of the coolest arts events in the annual calendar. We suggest you book immediately.

Bjork Digital will be held June 3-18, 2016 at Carriageworks in Sydney.
