Meghan Markle is a 37-year-old American actress and divorcee who comes from a working class background, who had to work and fight for everything she’s achieved.

In other words, she’s the opposite of most members of the royal family, who’ve lived relatively sheltered lives and had the world at their feet since the day they were born.

You’d be a fool to think Meghan’s transition into the British royal family upon marrying Prince Harry would be totally smooth – her direct American style of communication alone is no doubt an affront to more conservative and subdued Brits – but according to a friend of Meghan’s, it’s creating even more drama than anyone expected.

“She’s ballsy. She’s unashamedly ambitious — she has a great work ethic — and I can only imagine how that’s gone down inside the palace,” a well-placed source told the New York Post.

“Meghan wanted to get [deeply involved in initiatives] from the beginning. She’s very bright and questioned absolutely everything from her first briefing.”

(Her decision to serve an unorthodox British afternoon tea no doubt left a few royals shook).

As has been widely reported, several long-serving staff members have left Kensington Palace since Meghan joined the family, and the Duchess of Sussex is said to have clashed with sister-in-law Kate Middleton.

But a Palace insider said reports of strain between the women had blown out of proportion.

“I don’t think it’s true that Meghan and Catherine don’t get on — they are just very different people. Catherine is so incredibly lovely, and Meghan is clearly very determined and ambitious and is applying the same principles to this job as to any other [acting] role.”

Meghan is expecting her first child in April of this year, but her pregnancy hasn’t slowed her down – in recent weeks she’s made several visits to London charities.
