Small in size, mighty in impact; a great pair of frames can change everything from your outfit to your outlook on life. Optical retailer Specsavers know this better than anyone; our go-to stop for not only a stylish pair of glasses but frames that are incredibly affordable, the brand forever serving us a lesson in opti-chic. And their latest collaboration is no exception.

Teaming up with cult, cutting-edge UK label, Red or Dead, a new collection of opticals combine the brand’s quirky, contemporary style with that iconic Specsavers quality. An extension of Red or Dead’s daring, fashion-forward aesthetic, the collection is exclusive to Specsavers and includes 12 optical styles in an array of colours, prints and patterns. The new prescription frames also bring back the popular interchangeable sides – so you can mix up your look whenever and wherever you like.

“This cutting edge collection is the epitome of Red or Dead’s brand ideals,” says Red or Dead’s Creative Director, Katie Greenyer, of the collection. “We’re saying no to normal and bringing some fun to your face while re-immersing and re-exciting our consumers with our classic brand heritage and sense of humour.”

Why did you choose this frame?
I love how it feels reminiscent of the 70’s. I also love how you can go from a subtle pop of colour to a full colour statement just by changing the arms.

What kind of face shape do you have and what style frames suit you?
I guess it’s more heart shaped…I always find myself drawn to bigger glasses styles – whether that suits me best, I’m not sure haha! To me it’s all about the character the glasses can bring to my outfit. Everything looks good when you’re smiling..

How would you style this particular frame?
High wasted bells, a plain tee or silk blouse, hair out and softly curled.. bare foot.

How important are glasses to your wardrobe? And to your daily life?
Well for one – it makes reading EVERYTHING a whole lot easier. I used to wear them a lot more when I was studying at university, but now I find I’m reaching for them more for day to day computer work, reading a novel in the sun or just adding spice to an outfit.

What kind of eyewear styles are you usually attracted to and why?
I love vintage styles. I find them timeless and truer to my personal aesthetic.

Tell us what you love about the red or dead brand?
I love how they are innovative and aren’t afraid to be different. It’s all about not being afraid to make the first move – whether it’s with fashion or decisions in your day to day your life.

Eyes are the window to the soul. If you could see through to anyone’s soul – who would it be and why?
Frida Kahlo has always been a massive inspiration to me. I got the chance to visit her home when I was in Mexico.. Seeing the brush strokes of her art and where she lived her life was so raw. I think viewing a person’s artwork is the closest you can get to looking into someone’s soul – that’s why painting is so powerful. There was this twinkle in her eye, a fire in her belly, a wildness to her.. She wasn’t here to impress anyone – she was devoted to being herself unapologetically and squeezing that same essence out of those around her. Something I think everyone, but especially women today can constantly draw inspiration from.

Why did you choose this frame?
With the interchangeable arms, these frames can be dressed up or down, so I find they’re really versatile and are the perfect option for a whole range of occasions. The combination with the black sides have a corporate feel so are great for work, but the exaggerated brow line and Clubmaster style keeps it unique and interesting. Classic with a modern twist – which is totally how I would describe my personal style!

What kind of face shape do you have and what style frames suit you?
I have a triangle face shape so I feel the Clubmaster style suits me best. I also can’t go past a cat’s eye or a chic square frame. I’m not afraid of a pop of colour and I love to make my frame the statement piece of my outfit. I really think that glasses complete an outfit, so I have to admit, I have waaaaaay too many pairs!

How would you style this particular frame?
As there is a lot of detail in the frame – with the mixed use of metal and acetate materials, along with the heavy brow line at the top of the frame, I would recommend wearing this style with a classic paired back look – crisp white shirt, or a black cocktail dress, or your fav denim jeans and a grey cashmere jumper.

How important are glasses to your wardrobe? And to your daily life?
Glasses are a great way to show off a little part of your personality. When running from the office to an event, I can simply change up my frames to create a whole other look. It also makes you memorable – people always remember a statement pair of frames!

What kind of eyewear styles are you usually attracted to and why?
I love a bold frame that can make a style statement. I love selecting a style that is a little different, it’s a way to showcase a part of my personality. It also means I can experiment with new season trends without overdoing it with a whole outfit.

Tell us what you love about the red or dead brand?
It’s fun, quirky, unique and not afraid to be a little bit different. It’s that perfect combination of classic styles that aren’t too ‘crazy’ that they date, without being too safe.

Eyes are the window to the soul. If you could see through to anyone’s soul – who would it be and why?
I’d have to say Picasso – I’m currently obsessed with his blue period and would love to know what drove him to create such beautiful masterpieces.
