Seen on everyone from Gigi and Bella Hadid, to Lily-Rose Depp and Joan Smalls – the rose gold eye is setting itself up as the must-try, make-up look for the season. “A lot of people are afraid to wear pinks or plums around the eyes, but honestly we have to experiment with eye shadows to find the colours that work best for you,” explains Uzo, Lead International Make-Up Stylist for NARS Cosmetics, who says rosy shades work on every eye colour.

“If you’re wearing a pink or plum based eye shadow on the eye, you need to use a neutral along the way to balance the blue undertones and the pink.” This weekend, skip out your usual browns or classic blacks and blend your way to this season’s most in demand and suddenly sexy, rose gold smoky eye.

Step One To even out any darkness and create a base for the shadow to stick to, prep your eyelids with a creamy concealer
Step Two Take a rosy gold wye shadow shade and sweep it through the crease of the eyelid
Step Three Next, apply a gold cream shadow below the rosy shade directly on the eyelid.
UZO’s pro tip I use cream shadows first because it gives a beautiful lustre to the eyelid and allows the powder to blend like a dream
Step Four Blend both shades together with a coppery eye shadow shade
Step Five Apply a black pencil, gel or liquid liner along your lash line and upper, inner lash line
UZO’s Pro tip “Using eyeliner helps anchor down the look and make it more classic and balanced. With lighter eyes I like to use black eyeliner, and for darker brown eyes I prefer brown”
Step Six Curl lashes well and apply two coats of mascara
Step Seven Apply a nude lipstick
UZO’s Pro Tip “When you have a more defined eye, the li really needs to take a back seat but still have a bit of colour. I like to mix two shades; one is nude, like the colour of your skin, and one with a slight pink undertone to bring in the colour on the eyes. Mix the two together and then blot”
Step Eight Finish by defining the brows with a pencil or powder
UZO’s Pro Tip “Finish off the brows by brushing them upwards for a nice, feathery finish. They still need to be groomed so I usually like a little bit of a brow gel or a little bit of a brown eye shadow to accentuate the arch, the length and the tip of the brow”
