Who says beachy waves only work in summer? With autumn a mere six weeks away (sob!), Victoria Beckham has shown us the secret to making laidback, summer waves work once the mercury drops is in the glossy finish. Stepping out on a chilly New York day, the fashion designer was an ocean away from the ‘Beckileaks’ email scandal, refusing to let the arctic air, or looming headlines back home in London veer her effortless waves off course.

Cutting a bold and bright figure against the grey Manhattan streets, the style icon has once again proved her status as a beauty icon too, inspiring us to make the same transeasonal shifts to our effortless waves playbook as the weather starts cools down. While air-dried, rumpled textured go with the territory on sunny days against airy outfits, put-together and polished waves go equally hand in hand with heavier fabrics and extra layers. Switch out dry texture sprays or matte-effect, sea-salt spritzes for shine-boosting styling creams, bouncy blow-waves and texturising products that boast a glossy finish. And while the weather still permits it, finish off your hair wash with a cold-water rinse, which will flatten the hair cuticle for smoother curls later on. Get set, gloss.
