As a fashion designer and bona fide socialite, there aren’t a lot of events that have omitted Victoria Beckham from their guest lists. So, when the 50-year-old made debut at a lavish state banquet held at Buckingham Palace, it was fitting that she paid homage to her pop star persona through her glamorous look.
As Posh Spice, Beckham brought a sense of elegance and sensuality to the otherwise campy outfits associated with singers at the time. But when you’re a fifth of one of the world’s most successful girl groups, her little Tom Ford for Gucci dresses we’re certainly dialled up to the diva level required to command the stage. It was this energy that Beckham brought to the regal soirée, with her stunning high-shine viscose dress a standout amongst a sea of conservative ensembles.
For the occasion, Beckham wore a style of her design, flexing her prowess for flattering, form-fitting and tailored construction that she’s honed under her eponymous label. The gown featured a sculpted long-sleeve bodice that gathered at the front of the waist and finished with an elongated train.

She carried a gold clutch that accented the gilded furnishings of the royal abode, while her tied-back hair and muted makeup complemented the minimal yet striking silhouette.
She was joined by her husband David Beckham, who looked the part of a proper sire in his sharp tailcoat decorated by his Order of the British Empire medal. (This is the man who waited twelve hours in line to honour Queen Elizabeth II after her passing, so there was no way the former footballer would eschew tradition in the name of fashion.)
Though Kate Middleton didn’t make an appearance at the dinner, the couple reunited with Prince William and King Charles III over the evening thrown in honour of the Emir of Qatar. The Beckhams have had a longstanding relationship with the royal family over the years, with the couple first cementing their relationship in 2000 when they received the highest honour of chivalry, rewarding their respective contributions to sport and song.
This appearance is proof that time really does change things, with the pair certainly more polished now than when they met the then-Prince of Wales in a durag and strapless bustier.
