It really is so hard to stay diplomatic and gracious when someone has broken your trust. Case in point: Tristan Thompson cheating on Khloe Kardashian just days before she gave birth to their baby girl. In 2018 however, how one acts on social media after such a scandal is watched carefully and closely by onlookers, an almost means of measurement of one’s mental state.
Kardashian handled herself well. Her first Instagram post – as footage of Thompson hooking up with girls circulated the internet – was about her new daughter, True. “Our little girl, True Thompson, has completely stolen our hearts and we are overwhelmed with LOVE. Such a blessing to welcome this angel into the family! Mommy and Daddy loooooove you True!
She mentions Thompson and so we can assume he’s still somewhat involved in the picture, even if just for the sake of their daughter.
Cross over to Thompson though and he has stayed quiet since the scandal broke. It was definitely for the best but it was his next social media move that was important and would show the measure of the man. Five hours ago, the basketball star posted his first Instagram since everything happened. It wasn’t of his new baby daughter, it was of himself. “WHAT AN ATMOSPHERE IN THE Q!! GREAT WIN #OnToTheNextOne.” If the hashtag rubs you wrong the way, you’re not alone. One user hit the nail on the head commenting “are you referring to your next affair?” Yes, there’s a big elephant in the room which he is yet to address, but at this point, could the star do or say anything without being scrutinised?
Kim Kardashian has weighed in on her sister’s situation on The Ellen DeGeneres show saying “It’s just so f***ed up.” “We really were rooting for Khloé. And we still are. She’s so strong and she’s doing the best she can. It’s a really sad situation all over.”
And that’s just it, really. When it comes to matters of the heart, there are no sides. Cheating, when backed by footage, is so black and white that it’s not her against him or him against her. It’s just a sad situation for everyone involved. Even reality stars – who seem so far from reality – they are not exempt.
