In news that will surprise absolutely no one, a paternity test has revealed Tristan Thompson is in fact the father of Maralee Nichols’ baby boy.
Thompson just shared the revelation on his Instagram account, posting a story acknowledging the fact he is in fact the biological father, as well as an apology to all those affected by the scandal.
“Today, paternity test results reveal that I fathered a child with Maralee Nichols,” the NBA player wrote. “I take full responsibility for my actions. Now that paternity has been established I look forward to amicably raising our son.”
He continued, “I sincerely apologize to everyone I’ve hurt or disappointed throughout this ordeal both privately and publicly.”
Thompson then addressed his relationship with reality star Khloe Kardashian, with whom he shares a daughter:
“Khloé, you don’t deserve this. You don’t deserve the heartache and humiliation I have caused you,” he added. “You don’t deserve the way I have treated you over the years.”
Thomson and Kardashian publicly dated on and off for years, until it was revealed that he cheated on her in 2018 while she was pregnant with True, and again in 2019 with sister Kylie’s former best friend Jordyn Woods. It’s believed Kardashian broke up with Thompson last June when he allegedly cheated yet again, this time with model Sydney Chase.
Maralee Nichols, a personal trainer from Texas, claims that her and Thompson had a five month affair, but Thompson maintains that the pair had sex once (on his birthday, while still in a relationship with Kardashian) and the pregnancy was a result from the one indiscretion. The pair have been in an ugly legal battle since, with rumours that Thomson tried to silence Nichols with $75,000. He then insisted on a paternity test to determine if he was the biological father following the baby’s birth in early December.
Now that the truth is out there, here’s hoping everyone involved can now heal and move on.
