While Travis Kelce has certainly achieved global notoriety in his own right, it’s safe to say that dating Taylor Swift has afforded him a different kind of fame. And with that fame comes mixing and mingling with some of the world’s most influential people—including royalty.

When attending Swift’s London Eras Tour concert on June 23rd at Wembley Stadium, Kelce not only surprised the crowd with a special on-stage appearance, but he also got to go backstage to meet some of his popstar girlfriend’s regal British fans.

As the world learned from the singer’s selfies, one of those fans was Prince William himself—accompanied by two of his children, Prince George and Princess Charlotte.

Now, Kelce has gone on record to share what he really thinks of the royal family.

Reflecting on the evening on their New Heights podcast, Kelce and his brother, Jason Kelce, agreed that the royals were “so cool” and “awesome”.

“Dude, he was the coolest motherf–ker,” laughed the NFL star about Prince William.

“They were wonderful people, and that’s what it’s about,” they said. “Literally being part of a monarchy, royalty… [it’s] hard to be a down-to-earth human being, I would assume. But he came off that way completely.”

Despite being a somewhat casual affair, Travis admitted that he stumbled over whether to curtsy or “just be an American idiot and shake their hand”, but he figured it out. After all, it’s not the first time the athlete has been in the presence of big names. Just in May, he and his Kansas City Chiefs team were hosted at the White House by Joe Biden to celebrate their 2024 Super Bowl win.
