If you’ve ever wondered what your ultimate lip shade looks like, TikTok – modern purveyor of fantastical (and sometimes downright crazy) beauty advice – claims to have the answer.

Creator @yokenzieb recently shared her trick on the platform, and it subsequently went viral with other users trying the technique out using Kenzie’s original audio.

So what’s the technique? It involves lining your lips with your brow pencil – that’s right, no need for a dedicated lip liner – which is said to work perfectly as a lip shade.

Next, Kenzie suggests swapping your lipstick for your favourite blush, dabbing the colour onto the centre of your lips. For the final touch? Add some clear gloss to get that full, pouty effect.

You should end up with the perfect natural lip look with a high-shine finish – not unlike the popular lip combo Alexa Demie has been sporting all season as Maddy on Euphoria.

Even reigning TikTok queen Addison Rae gave the brow pencil trick a whirl on the platform, using products from her own Item Beauty line.

Of course, while TikTok users are only now discovering this technique, many have been employing its pout-plumping genius for years – including Ashley Graham.

The supermodel revealed her trick in an IGTV, sharing, “First of all I take a tiny bit of Aquaphor. I don’t want my lips to be super moisturised, because I want them to stay.”

She continues, “Then, I take an eyebrow pencil and shade out my lips – this is why people think I have lip injections.”

And sure – results (and lip shades) will vary depending on how dark your brow pencil is, as fellow TikToker Charli D’Amelio found when she tried the technique out for herself.

i don’t think this worked for me

But we do stand behind making the beauty products you already own work even harder – so perhaps it’s worth giving this one a try?
