While one would presume all eyes would be on Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth at the Thor: Ragnarok premiere at the El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood – it is, after all, the couple’s first public appearance in four years – it was Cate Blanchett who glittered, literally.

Draped in gold, sparkling Gucci, Blanchett who plays Hela alongside Chris Hemsworth, Jeff Goldblum, Tom Hiddleston and Mark Ruffalo outshone all questions about Cyrus and Hemsworth’s impending nuptials (note: there are no further details on this).

The 48-year-old’s attendance comes in the wake of her support for the women reportedly assaulted by disgraced fallen film producer Harvey Weinstein. “Any man in a position of power or authority who thinks it’s his prerogative to threaten, intimidate or sexually assault any woman he encounters or works alongside needs to be called to account,” Blanchett, who worked with the Weinstein Co on films such as Carol and The Aviator, told Variety. “It is never easy for a woman to come forward in such situations and I wholeheartedly support those who have.”

A slimmed-down Chris Hemsworth attended with wife Elsa Pataky, his other brother Luke and his parents. His children did not attend the premiere. Speaking recently to E!, the star of the film took his three children onto the set of Thor where they were “wildly unimpressed.” “They were like, ‘This is so boring. We thought you fight monsters for a living and you don’t. You pretend. And so, we’re going to wreck stuff.’” As a result, they won’t be dressing up as their superhero dad for Halloween in a couple of weeks. “They want to be Wonder Woman. It’s true, both my sons and my daughter,” he said. “It’s alright; I love Wonder Woman.”

Matt Damon and his wife were also on the carpet. The actor came under fire this week for reportedly assisting in covering up Weinstein’s misdemeanors in 2004. He has since hit out on Twitter playing down his involvement, and has the support of many peers including actress Jessica Chastain.

Thor: Ragnarok will premiere in Australia this Sunday October 15.
