What would you wear to meet Donald Trump? Earlier in the year, the Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton, wore a spectacular frothy white gown by Alexander McQueen to the State Banquet for US President Donald Trump and US First Lady Melania Trump at Buckhingham Palace. Along with the tiered lace dress, she wore the Cambridge Lover’s Knot tiara and the Queen Mother’s diamond and sapphire fringe earrings, and for the first time, a purple sash, after being appointed a Dame Grand Cross by the Queen a month prior.

For this meeting, however, she chose something a little more fun: a striking green frock by one of her favourite designers, Auckland-born London-based designer, Emilia Wickstead. Attending the NATO reception hosted by Her Majesty the Queen at Buckingham Palace, Middleton opted for a long-sleeved emerald green dress by Wickstead. Featuring a high-neck and a little puff through the sleeve, the green crepe midi dress was the perfect example of how to execute bold colour delicately.

Melania, too, opted for a jewel tone, wearing a sculptural opera cape in bright yellow to the event, which marked 70 years of the NATO alliance.

Occasion dressing at its finest, Kate Middleton’s green dress is just the thing to set the tone for the festive season. While it’s not the exact dress, you can buy a very similar one here via Matches Fashions, and the best part? It’s on sale. We’d even say hi to Trump for that (maybe).
