Margot Robbie is always a red carpet highlight, but her ethereal appearance at the 80th annual Golden Globes yesterday was undeniably one of her best.

The Australian actress and producer – who was nominated for the Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy award thanks to her starring role in Babylon – was dressed in custom pink CHANEL; a soft, tiered gown that reportedly took some 750 hours to make.

To complement the beautiful dress, Robbie’s long-time makeup artist and collaborator Pati Dubroff painted her face in shades of pink. Given she’s a CHANEL ambassador, the entire look was created using the French brand – and despite having a near-perfect canvas, Dubroff worked her magic, layering complimentary hues of peach, rose and fuchsia to create an other-worldy glow.

“My inspiration was Margot’s CHANEL dress, which was this beautiful pink with different textures, shine and feathers,” Dubroff said in a press release. “We did something soft and diffused; it was like leaning into the pinkness of her dress but giving it a flush…The whole thing feels like a harmony in tone, while nothing is overpowering.”

Robbie’s skin was prepped with the Les Beiges Healthy Glow Foundation Hydration and Longwear in BD31, as well as the Le Correcteur de CHANEL in B20. Dubroff also set the skin with Poudre Universelle Libre Natural Finish Loose Powder in 10.

To achieve the soft pink flush, the artist combined Baume Essentiel Multi-Use Glow Stick in Ensoleillé with N°1 de CHANEL Lip and Cheek Balm in Vital Beige and Joues Contraste Powder Blush in Ombre.

But it’s the lip – a poppy rose that lifted her entire complexion – that we’re enamoured with. “I actually used two different shades for her lip,” Dubroff shared. “First, I applied theRouge Allure Velvet Luminous Matte Lip Colour* in Intiutive as a base coat. Then I wanted to introduce some kind of pinkness to her lips, so I used the CHANEL Rouge Allure Velvet Luminous Matte Lip Colour in Éternelle for its cool pink tone colour on top of the first layer and pressed it only in the centre of the lip. I pushed the colour into the center of the lip, so it feels like the center is blossoming out with the rosier tone. It’s about using two shades that don’t necessarily seem to belong together to create a colour that belongs.”
