The lady of the hour, Lady Gaga, has proven herself not just an actress but a true beauty star, with this week’s Critics Choice Awards once again testament to her beauty prowess.

As of late, she’s sported ‘set’ hair; pin-curls that don’t move, stiff sculptural up ‘dos, side-parted siren hair, inspiring us to forgo ‘lived-in’ hair and favour polish and panache when it comes to our coif. Making a strong case for the return of Old Hollywood hair, it is exactly this which her hairstylist, Frederic Aspiras, is using as inspiration when it comes to creating those glamorous, old world locks. For her Critics’ Choice ‘do, Aspiras actually looked to “Old Hollywood beauty,” specifically Austrian-born actress Hedy Lamarr for inspiration, citing Lamarr as his hair muse.

Here, Frederic Aspiras shows us exactly how to get those perfect curls from the Critics’ Choice Awards at home.

1. To start, I blow dried her hair with the ghd air® professional hairdryer and ghd natural bristle radial brush size 1 creating a deep side part and a bouncy blowout.
2. Next, I curled the hair section by section using the ghd curve® classic wave wand and set in pin curls throughout the head.
3. Once the curls were cooled and set, I combed them out using with the ghd detangling comb and some sculpting cream, sculpting “S” waves in front of face.
4. Lastly, I brushed our the curls in back and side using the ghd oval dressing brush and finished with hairspray.
