Since they got engaged on Valentine’s Day, you might have been wondering, as you fall asleep at night or wait for your lunch to heat up in the microwave, how Orlando Bloom proposed to Katy Perry.
Lucky for us Katy has spilled the beans, describing the proposal in detail when she appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live this week.
It seems Bloom stealthily chose Valentine’s Day as to not arouse Perry’s suspicion about his plans. They were out for a V-Day dinner and museum visit when the Pirates of the Caribbean star announced the pair were about to take a helicopter ride.
Once up in the air, Bloom gave his love a note and started opening a bottle of champagne. But all was not perfect.
“The champagne is, like, broken,” Perry recalled. “The bottle is everywhere, and I’m still looking at the note. He’s pulling out this box that’s too big for his coat pocket. It rips his coat pocket, and his elbow goes into the champagne.”
Despite the stuff-up, Perry said the moment was “really sweet.”
He wasn’t done there, though. After the helicopter touched down on a rooftop, Orlando took the Roar singer inside a building where a large group of their friends and family were waiting to celebrate their engagement news (he must have been confident in her answer).
“He did so well,” she said.
