Head to Bondi beach and you’ll most likely see POSSE. Or Canggu. Or even Positano. Girls from here to the Mediterranean and every in-between are clad in the raw linen and raffia now synonymous with the label. The resort brand has taken our wardrobes by storm with its effortless tailoring and relaxed fabrics, and for founder and designer, Danielle Mulham, it’s a kind of 360. Mulham grew up by the water’s edge on Sydney’s Northern Beaches, and later found a new patch of sand and sea to dwell upon; Bali. It was here POSSE was born, and much like Mulham, now travels the world, available in Asia, Europe and the United States. From a girl fluent in the language of summer, we ask the eternal vagabond what beauty posse she takes on summer holidays.

What makeup do you pack?
In terms of make-up I like to keep things pretty minimal. For my base
I use a super light compact mineral powder foundation by Jane Irridale  (which has an SPF 30+). My eyebrows are quite a prominent feature so they need a little extra attention – I use Benefit Goof Proof Eye Pencil and their 3D Brow tones which is a subtle brow enhancer, these two products are a must for me. To finish I use NARS ‘Laguna’ Bronzer and ‘Orgasim’ Blush. For night I will add my Bobbi Brown “ Shimmer Brick Highlighter” and Lancome ‘Hypnose’ Mascara.  Hair wise, I cannot live without my Batiste Dry Shampoo.

What skincare do you pack?
Sun protection is really important for me and it can be a challenge to find the perfect 50+ sun cream that doesn’t irritate skin that’s prone to breakouts when dealing with the stress of long-haul travel. I’ve recently begun using Derma Energy ‘Serve and Protect’ which I now apply everyday. For a natural holiday glow I use J Bronze. I cleanse morning and evening and use a Multi B Serum and Pigment Serum by “Aspect”. At night I add an extra EE serum which is retinol based and Ella Bache Eye Cream. Laneige also do a beautiful lip mask which I use most nights as well.

What is your beauty philosophy when it comes to summer holidays?
Extending a healthy lifestyle even when I’m on holidays is key for me. A good diet complimented with an essential vitamins & probiotics routine, as well as plenty of ocean salt on my skin and in my hair.

What’s your in-flight beauty routine?
My number one priority when flying is to stay hydrated. Lots of water and Avéne Hydrating Mist are a must, as well as bringing my own healthy snack. A comfortable neck pillow, eye mask and noise-cancelling headphones ensure I get some sleep to stay looking as fresh as possible.

What’s your number one travel tip?
In the digital era of e-commerce and social media I think it takes longer for us to slow down when we finally get a break. My number one travel tip would be to take some time to appreciate the unique moments of each day and leave your phone in the bag as much as possible to relax and find that slower pace. I’ve recently opted for a film camera instead of my phone!

What is your favourite spot overseas to stock up on beauty?
When I’m in Europe, I’ll always find a moment to visit French pharmacies when I am in Paris, they have loads of Parisian go-tos! Also, when I am living in Bali there is a beautiful all natural beauty store in Canggu called “ISHA” where I love to stock up on hair masks and essential oils.

What is your ultimate summer destination to escape the Australian winter?
For the climate, shopping and food I would have to say Italy. The western coastline is packed with beautiful seaside towns both renowned and waiting to be found.

Are you going away this winter – if so, where and what will you be packing?

I am actually writing this from Capri! I’ll be heading to Positano before exploring the north-west coast of Sicily and finishing up at Morocco. I’ve packed the Lula shirt, the Ducky short, the Akello pant and the Micky bandeau as wardrobe staples along with my Hunza G bikinis. Accessory-wise, I live in my St. Tropez slides, my ’70s roundie bag and a collection of vintage statement earrings. I leave plenty of room for unique pieces and vintage finds along the way.
