It’s typically a Friday afternoon in Sydney when GRAZIA’s editorial team—zooming in situ from around the globe—connect online to plan our upcoming print volume. Indeed, we here in the Australian office eschew after-work drinks for the distinct privilege of bringing you, our readers, glamorous new-season collections from leading luxuriates and whip-sharp features on the pulse of fashion’s lexicon.

The issue that currently sits on stands is our 16th edition—Cultural Exchange. A study on expatriates, migration, language, community and finding identities. The 480-page publication is fronted by two international powerhouses, Angela Baby and Pooja Mor, but contains a multitude of outlooks and intercontinental experiences. Truly a reflection of how each issue is made.

Behind it all—the four collectable front covers, the three continents the issue was produced in and the single edition you can now pick up a copy of now—one indispensable piece of innovation. A groundbreaking piece of technology from Apple, to be specific.

Enter: Apple’s new MacBook Pro—with the first ever M3 chip. AKA our north star leading us through it all.

Smart, sleek and savvy—hallmarks of our issue, too—the new MacBook Pros provide extraordinary performance and seamless workflow with remarkable capabilities. It is an indispensable tool for creatives of any kind, courtesy of the world’s leading retina display, proverbially supersonic processing speed, extended battery life and a slick durable design.

Ahead, we bring you inside the making of Cultural Exchange, lifting the cover and taking you through our process, page by page, line by line.

A Paperless Approach

Despite producing a print product, GRAZIA takes a paperless approach to the creation of the issue thanks to the laser-sharp liquid retina display ingrained into each MacBook Pro. The display is Apple’s best yet. ProMotion technology and Extreme Dynamic Range provide incredible contrast, meaning the saturation of each textile and fibre captured by our creative team is to be viewed in flawless illumination. Printing out our flat lays to determine layouts has been rendered a thing of the past. In part due to the flexible nature of our working process, but also due to the new liquid retina XDR display supplying peak HDR brightness.

It’s not hyperbolic to claim that we see the world from our laptops. With this issue shot from the red bush outback of Australia to the inlets of India, each microcosm of colour is made tangible through the screen’s ability to capture billions of colours—literally.

Further still, the vivid screen captures the finest details of a collection, especially when viewing new season runway presentations from abroad. As our editorial team will often rewatch a show’s live stream to immerse ourselves in the panoply we’re writing about, Apple MacBook Pro’s lumination evokes a front-row sensation unmatched by the giant’s previous devices.

Global Connection

For this issue, our senior fashion features writer, Ava Gilchrist, figuratively travelled around London to grasp the sense of intense energy and multiculturalism that permeates the city for her story, Home, Where Art Thou. Through interviews with emerging cross-cultural designers, the landscape of the cultural capital became materialised through their dialogue. But while Ava remained in Sydney, she could travel and connect seamlessly thanks to the integration of the MacBook Pro’s 1080p FaceTime HD camera. Intuitive video capability allowed for unrivalled access.

In another story, penned by our editorial director, Jessica Bailey, we met with the ‘Kim Kardashian of Shanghai’, Angela Yeung Wing. The MacBook’s high-fidelity six-speaker sound system and ultra-fast computational video made it almost like the interview took place face-to-face.

Additionally, connecting with our global team in Milan and Dubai became a transient experience. High-definition pixelation and easy-to-use applications meant laborious international calls and crackled connections became redundant.

Some stories were even filled from 33,000 feet in the air. From the cabins of an aeroplane and a cruising altitude, the speed and intuitional functioning of the MacBook Pro enabled the theme “Cultural Exchange” to become a literal embodiment of GRAZIA’s global connections.

On-The-Go Ease

Armed with the lightweight (1.6kg) 14-inch design, the easily portable piece of tech proves a godsend for on-the-go ease. With shoots—including our A Country Practice spread which took place in regional Australiaoften in remote locations, travelling a distance is no longer a concern.

The device’s extended battery life—which thanks to the power efficiency of Apple silicon is up to 22 hours—means our stories can be written from anywhere. The backseat of an Uber between shows during Paris Fashion Week. On set inside a studio from a makeup chair. On a red carpet before interviewing Hollywood A-listers on their latest projects. Flanked by books in our local library while on deadline. Without concern for our battery dying and being weighed down by bundles of cables and heavy tech, we’ve become the go-to on-the-ground source for breaking news and hunting down leads.

M3: Silicon Supreme

The most exciting evolution in the MacBook’s anthology is the introduction of the M3, M3 Pro and M3 Max chips. These silicon chips are supreme, possessing groundbreaking technologies like an increased GPU (graphic processing unit) to deliver increased performance. Easily meeting any arduous task with ease, each chip allows for multiple applications to run at once. This includes demanding functions like photo and video editing to enable numerous programs to open in tandem. Crashes are a thing of the past, with our team able to stream major events, edit imagery, draft stories, connect over FaceTime, flick through past issues and (best of all) have 50+ tabs open at once—all at the same time. The new M3 chips truly ensure we can be doing everything, everywhere all at once

The Accessory To End Them All

Being a fashion publication, our typical accessory wheelhouse includes new-season bags, jewellery, belts and shoes. But with the Apple MacBook Pro becoming indispensable to our workflow, our team are happily swapping micro-purses for ludicrously capacious laptop bags. Crafted from recycled aluminium and delivered in a chic space black finish, the highly intelligent device serves as more than a tool. It’s an objet d’art that decorates all our team meetings—and looks especially impressive when the GRAZIA team takes over one of Sydney’s in-the-know society cafés to work from.

From pitch to page, the Apple MacBook Pro with M3 chip is the portal to the rest of the world and serves as inspiration for our stories. Creativity truly has a way of making us see things differently. So does the Apple Macbook Pro M3. They are the tool that connects us to each other and the devices we use to create our product.
