No longer confined to primary school and ballet concerts, the bow is back, with a new lady-like fervour. The Spring Racing Carnival saw the bow as the headpiece du jour, with almost every ‘it’ girl, editor and model sporting an incarnation of the bow. There were Chanel ribbons tied simply with a silver barette, punchy Realisation Par scarves knotted around low-slung ponytails, and more structured lofty bows affixed to high ponies. Jodi Anasta’s slick, long, low ponytail and bow combo was stellar and refined, whilst some even opted for a frontrunner; knotting fabric around faces like a halo, a playful take on the trend.

Whilst away from the track, the girlish hair accessory has been tying the tresses of cool girls everywhere. Chunky black velvet seems to be a repeat offender, either tied simply like a schoolgirl, (model Cheyenne Tozzi the most recent to take heed of the trend), or a slightly more abstract rendition like below. A low, slightly messy ponytail is the bow’s partner in crime, but any up ‘do will also work; a simple ribbon-to-bow is an instant update to any banal hairstyle.

Girly meets grown-up, time to tie promptly.
