Was Sophie Turner the OG Instagram comedian? Long before the likes of Jordan Firstman and Ziwe, whose hilarious skits completely blew up on social media during the pandemic, the British actress was using the platform for a recurring skit of her own. For the past two years, wherever she happened to be in the world (even including on her tropical honeymoon), Turner would pop onto Instagram stories to give her 15 million followers ‘the tea.’

For the impromptu series, Turner always has a cup of tea in her hand – recently, since becoming a mum, she’s swapped it once or twice for a glass of red wine – while telling her fans something hilarious or important.

Though she’s dropped off recently, and been usurped by Firstman in the process, the Game of Thrones actress popped back online briefly to share an important message to those who think they’re above wearing a mask during a global pandemic.

“If I can wear a mask while I give birth, you can wear a mask at Walmart,” Turner said on her Instagram Stories while lying on the couch. “And that’s the tea.”

This isn’t the first time Turner has spoken out about COVID, either. Back in March, the 24-year-old posted another tea clip urging people to adhere to social distancing and stay at home.  “Stay inside. Don’t be fucking stupid. Even if you count your freedom […] over your health. I don’t give a fuck about your freedom,” she said.

“You could be infecting other people, other vulnerable people around you by doing this. So stay inside, guys! It’s not cool, it’s not big, and it’s not clever. And that’s the tea.”

Of course, Turner welcomed her first child, a baby girl named Willa, with her husband, Joe Jonas, in July. Hopefully the little British-American baby likes her tea hot.
