Romy Mars, the 13-year-old daughter of Sofia Coppola, has appeared in her first fashion campaign, starring in a series of portraits for Marc Jacobs’ newly-launched teenage diffusion line, Heaven by Marc Jacobs. Jacobs took to Instagram to share the images, which feature Mars fresh-faced and natural, wearing hoodies and T-shirts from the brands’ latest collection.

Jacobs, a long-time friend and collaborator of Coppola’s, took to Instagram to sing the teens’ praises. “I met you Romy shortly after you were born,” he said. “It is a beautiful trip watching you grow up and becoming such a cool and beautiful young woman. These portraits of you take me back in spirit to those good old early ‘90s days where the beginning of a long and lasting love story first began.”

People may roll their eyes at the nepotism on display in the fashion industry, but the salient point is this: Children of cool people tend to be… pretty cool. And the child of Sofia Coppola and Phoenix frontman Thomas Mars is destined to be extremely cool, especially when they’re brought up in close proximity to icons of fashion, film and music.

Coppola’s relationship with Jacobs dates back to the ’90s, with the pair meeting shortly after Marc’s infamous ’92 grunge collection for Perry Ellis. They have since collaborated multiple times, with Coppola featuring in many of Jacobs’ fashion and fragrance campaigns in the intervening two decades. Romy is Coppola’s eldest daughter—her youngest daughter, Cosima, is 10.
