When is a plain white tee not just any old plain white tee? When it’s cropped within an inch of almost being indiscreet and emblazoned with the world’s biggest fashion model’s moniker in out-there rock star script.

There are plenty of stand-outs in the big hype Gigi Hadid x Tommy Hilfiger capsule collection that dropped globally today, but it’s hard to go past what’s possibly the simplest piece in the whole range (bar perhaps the black Gigi logo knit beanie, but then, cliamate pushes us to the cotton tee for obvious reasons): the white cropped tee worn above for GRAZIA’s WeChat channel by model Gie Gie, photographed by Erika Yin.

This white cotton tee sums up everything the world loves about the world’s biggest model right now who inspired it: fresh, all-American, laid-back but with a cheeky, body-con edge. In fact, it’s such a hero piece in the collection, it was chosen for the Gigi x Tommy range global advertising campaign, shown in this brash black and white image here.

For those feeling skeptical about their post-Aussie winter crop-top-ready status, you can always layer it over another longer fitted tee, printed bodysuit or tube dress. In fact, on the Tommy Hilfiger Autumn/Winter 2017 runway at London Fashion Week, the bottom was cut for an even more deconstructed street look, then layered over another fitted cropped T-shirt, leather shorts and topped with a lush blue velvet coat.

The Gigi x Tommy costs $90 and is available at Tommy Hilfiger stores in Sydney (Westfield Sydney, Westfield Parramatta), Melbourne (Chadstone and Melbourne Central), Adelaide (Burnside Village) and Queensland (Pacific Fair), with limited stock also available online at MYER. It also comes in a black crop variety with red writing, as modelled in a street-vibe layered look on the Tommy Hilfiger AW17 runway, teamed with statement denim and bad-girl black nails.
