Last year you couldn’t flick through your Instagram feed for five seconds without stumbling upon yet another A-lister debuting a shoulder-length haircut. From Kendall Jenner and Cara Delevingne to Olivia Wilde and Amber Heard, celebrities were embracing the long bob, or ‘lob’, in droves. Now however, it appears there’s a new haircut in town – the shaggy bob, or ‘shob’ as we have decided to name it.

This week alone two LA It-girls have embraced the sexier, shaggier, curlier cut. First actress and producer, Alison Brie lopped off her former Kate Middleton-esque hair for a sexy ‘shob,’ complete with an eyebrow-grazing fringe. “Can’t even handle #AlisonBrie in this new cute shag bob. I’d like to shag your bob,” read the caption, posted by her hairstylist Ashley Streicher, of STRIIIKE Beauty Studio in Beverly Hills. Meanwhile Selena Gomez emerged from her own go-to LA salon, Nine Zero One, with a decidedly shaggier, curler version of her former hairdo.

Selena and Alison’s new shorter length works by encouraging a scrunchier curl, that riffs model, Mica Arganaraz’s signature cut, with a touch of Baby from Dirty Dancing thrown in. So which IT-girl will opt for a ‘shob’ next? Watch this space.
