In this mid-pandemic world, the ritual of sharing food at a long table has long been restricted to those deemed “touchable” (read: household contacts). But as we edge toward the other side of the Omicron inferno, eating and drinking in public spaces alongside members outside of our living rooms has been one of the great joys of summer 2022.

This week the Taste Roadshow by Sheraton takes this notion to new heights, touring its open-air, community-led dining experience in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane. Former 4Fourteen’s Colin Fassnidge, Bilson and My Kitchen Rule’s Manu Feidel, and Good Chef Bad Chef host and award winning Melbourne Restaurateur Adrian Richardson have created multiple unique courses to pair with premium wines for the ultimate event.

In Sydney, the experience will take place at the provincial Sydney Cathedral Square. Guests will be greeted with champagne and canapés on arrival before being led through Hyde Park and sat at the rustic, open-air long dining table outside the cathedral. An exquisite grazing station will be a mere entrée to Richardson’s Spanner Crab Spaghetti, Fassnidge’s Porchetta with a Watermelon Fennel and Pea Salad, and Feidel’s artistic take on Almond Blancmange with Tropical Fruit Salad.

Notably, Taste Port Douglas, presented by Sheraton Grand Mirage, have just announced their four-day festival of the senses which will take place from August 11 – 14 2022. Like it’s predecessor events, the affair will host some unforgettable dining experiences with yet-to-be-announced top chefs. Guests will have the opportunity to learn from culinary experts and explore local produce and world-class plates.

“Appetites for adventure and travel to our beautiful region are high and we plan to satisfy foodies in 2022 with an incredible program, quality local produce and talented industry leaders from Australia and beyond,” award-winning chef, restauranteur and one fo the founders of Taste Port Douglas, Spencer Patrick, says.

Food really is a universal language, and what an event to celebrate the return of togetherness.
