Yesterday was Chanel Day, and that means instead of attending to emails, we’re instead studying every beautiful detail from the Fall Winter 2023/24 show that took place overnight in Paris.
The collection was an ode to the Camellia flower; a favourite of Gabrielle Coco Chanel, and a long-standing CHANEL house code. Towering blooms stood in the centre of the Grand Palais Éphémère, and smaller details were incorporated into the clothing itself: patterned hosiery, floral motifs, embroidered lace.
The predominantly monochromatic colour scheme was also echoed in the beauty look. Makeup artist Lisa Butler showed off a shimmering silver eye; a blend of grey shadows and subtle glitter, with a charcoal smudged into the lash line. Skin was fresh but glossy, lips natural, brows fluffy, and the lashes heavy with black mascara.
While miles away from the glossy coral lip seen at Haute Couture, it still had the classic appeal of a CHANEL girl, a french chicness that’s elusive and very covetable.

The camellia flower was also present in hair; a series of hand-crafted blooms fastened to a half-up, half-down style as created by stylist James Pecis. Texture was mostly soft, natural, and enhanced with glossy movement. A few models also showed off a slick crop.
