Selena Gomez could be set to join the likes of Lady Gaga and Rhianna as it’s been revealed the singer plans to launch her own beauty line. As reported by Womens Wear Daily, back in July Gomez filed a trademark for ‘Selena Gomez’ for products including “fragrances, cosmetics, skin-care preparations, hair-care preparations, soaps, moisturisers and essential oils.”

Aside from existing industry heavyweights like Rhianna’s Fenty Beauty and Gaga’s Haus Laboratories, Gomez isn’t alone in her plans to break into the beauty space – Hailey Beiber, Kendall Jenner, and Cardi B have all filed various beauty-related trademarks too. Given the wild success of Fenty Beauty, it’s no surprise other celebrities plan to follow suit.

It’s not the first time Gomez has worked with retail brands either. Aside from her ambassador roles with Coach and Puma, the singer and actress has previously released an eponymous mass fragrance back in 2011, and once upon a time had a clothing line at Kmart.

Beauty makes so much sense for Gomez, given her penchant for incredible makeup looks, and her ever-changing head of thick, glossy hair. She often works with legendary makeup artist Hung Vanngo for red carpet events, so maybe he’ll play a role in consulting if makeup products are on the cards? At this stage, there’s little information available as to exactly what will be released, and Gomez herself is yet to release a statement.
