Selena Gomez has dropped a new single off her upcoming new album, Bad Liar, and she appears to have drawn on her recent personal drama to write it.

The song, which was written around the bassline of Talking Heads’ iconic hit Psycho Killer (apparently Gomez is a huge fan of the seventies psychedelic-rock band), appears to reference falling for The Weeknd when he was still with Bella Hadid.

I was walking down the street the other day
Trying to distract myself
Then I see your face
Ooo, you got someone else
Tryna play it coy
Tryna make it disappear
But just like the battle of Troy
There’s nothing subtle here

Of course, Bad Liar might have nothing at all to do with Selena’s personal life – it was co-written by Julia Michaels and Justin Tranter.

But given Selena and The Weeknd were spotted kissing just weeks after his split from Bella Hadid, and in January it was reported they’d been seeing each other for months, Bad Liar does sound straight out of the playbook of Selena’s recent history.
