The early 2000s was the golden-era of Jennifer Lopez’s film career, when the pop icon starred in feel-good films Maid In Manhattan, The Wedding Planner and Monster-In-Law.

If the state of the world right now has you pining for simpler times, you’re in luck, because overnight the trailer was released for Lopez’s next movie, Second Act, which looks to be in the vein of her early big screen projects.

The gist is this: forty-something mum Maya is working at a grocery store but harbours unfulfilled career ambitions, so she applies for a job at a swanky New York company she’s totally underqualified for. But thanks to her friend’s teenage son, who, unknown to Maya, creates a fake CV and online presence for her, she gets the job.

Obviously, hilarity, drama and life lessons ensue.

From the trailer, Second Act looks like a heart-warming, amusing tale starring one of the world’s most famous and yet somehow still relatable stars. Watch below.

Second Act hits Australian cinemas November 29.
