Now that Sarah Jessica Parker has revived her role as New York’s most fashionable writer Carrie Bradshaw, it’s once again almost impossible to separate the character from the actress, especially when the actress continues to provide us with almost as many iconic style moments off-screen as she does on. Case in point, the insanely gorgeous pink dress SJP chose to wear to the Broadway premiere of her new play Plaza Suite.

The project, a revival of Neil Simon’s 1968 comedy set in the Plaza Hotel, was initially postponed for two years due to the pandemic and it marks Parker’s return to Broadway after two decades. This milestone moment is made even more special because she co-stars in the play alongside her husband, Matthew Broderick.

To mark the occasion, Parker chose to tap her friend, designer Prabal Gurung, who created a one-off custommade dress made of hot pink satin overlaid with a transparent silk tulle which was hand-embroidered with crystals and sequins.

Before heading to the Hudson Theatre, Parker teased her opening-night look on Instagram, standing in front of her fireplace and showing off the gown’s train, writing, “Just wait until you see the front. No words right now. I’m sure they’ll come later. See you in Suite 719. X, SJ.”

The image also showed the back of Parker’s stunning sculptural chignon bun, made, as Parker’s hairstylist Serge Normant told British Vogue, to recall the air of classic 1960s fashion photography.

On her feet, Parker wore a pair of silver strappy open-toe heels and she topped off her beauty look with a pair of diamond earrings and on-trend lip gloss to match her pink dress.

On the red carpet, Broderick complimented his wife on the red carpet in a dark suit with a green tie. The play marks the first time the pair, who have been married since 1997 and who met via Broadway in 1991, have shared the stage since 1996’s How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying.
