It is the sequel we didn’t know we wanted nor needed but today Disney released the official trailer to Hocus Pocus 2. The first film was released in 1993 with Sarah Jessica Parker, Bette Midler and Kath Najimy all reprising their roles as the avant-garde witches.

According to a synopsis released today: “It’s been 29 years since someone lit the Black Flame Candle and resurrected the 17th-century sisters, and they are looking for revenge. Now it is up to three high-school students to stop the ravenous witches from wreaking a new kind of havoc on Salem before dawn on All Hallow’s Eve.”

Whitney Peak known for her breakout role in the 2021 Gossip Girl joins the cast alongside Sam Richardson (The Tomorrow War), Doug Jones (The Shape of Water), Hannah Waddingham (Ted Lasso), Belissa Escobedo (American Horror Stories), Lilia Buckingham (Dirt), Froyan Gutierrez (Teen Wolf), and Tony Hale (Veep).

The film is directed by Anne Fletcher – known for her work on Dumplin and The Proposal – while Lynn Harris (King Richard, The Shallows) will serve as producer. Ralph Winter and David Kirschner from the original Hocus Pocus film, as well as Adam Shankman (Hairspray) joins the crew as executive producers.

The film won’t see a theatrical release and instead will be available to stream on Disney+ just in time for spooky szn on September 30. Watch the trailer below and prepare for a wave of nostalgia.
