LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM – JUNE 08: (EMBARGOED FOR PUBLICATION IN UK NEWSPAPERS UNTIL 24 HOURS AFTER CREATE DATE AND TIME) Prince William, Duke of Cambridge, Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, Prince Louis of Cambridge, Prince George of Cambridge and Princess Charlotte of Cambridge watch a flypast from the balcony of Buckingham Palace during Trooping The Colour, the Queen’s annual birthday parade, on June 8, 2019 in London, England. The annual ceremony involving over 1400 guardsmen and cavalry, is believed to have first been performed during the reign of King Charles II. The parade marks the official birthday of the Sovereign, although the Queen’s actual birthday is on April 21st. (Photo by Max Mumby/Indigo/Getty Images)

Ah, Christmas. A time where Mariah Carey overtakes the charts, people start wearing horrible jumpers and celebrities – perhaps the only families to still take professional annual family photos – release cute portraits for us to swoon over.

Over in the US, we had Kim Kardashian and Kanye West ditch the rest of the Kardashian-Jenner clan to pose with just their four children, North, Saint, Chicago and Psalm, with everyone naturally dressed in matching grey tracksuits (and somehow managing to look good while doing it). Kardashian even later admitted the couple actually photoshopped their eldest, North, into the image after she refused to pose with her dad and siblings.

In the UK, the first of the royal family members have given us a glimpse at their Christmas card and subsequent new family portrait, albeit potentially by accident.

The Cambridges sent out Christmas cards signed by Kate Middleton to various charities and organisations they are affiliated with to wish everyone there happy holidays and naturally, one of the lucky people who received a card in the mail shared it to social media in a post which went viral. Though she quickly deleted all evidence, it wasn’t before people saved their own copies:

The adorable image shows Kate Middleton and Prince William with their three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis matching in blue and posing with a motorbike. It’s the first complete family photo since this time last year, when the Cambridges shared a photo of them in the garden of Anmer Hall to mark Christmas.

In the photo, Prince William is sitting on the bike with little Prince Louis in between his legs, while mum Kate stands alongside them wearing a blue floral wrap dress by British label Boden – which is, of course, now sold out. Prince George and his sister, Princess Charlotte, stand on the sidecar, both smiling to the camera.

Whether this is the official photo that the royal family was planning to release on their own social media accounts or another one that we were lucky enough to be treated to early remains to be seen, but we’d guess a post is coming from both the Cambridges and the Sussexes – the first with baby Archie Harrison – any day now.
