It might feel as though winter is well and truly on the way in London right now, complete with weeks of grey skies and cold temperatures to see out the summer season, but when guests stepped inside the Barbican Conservatory on Friday afternoon, it was easy to forget not only the UK’s terrible weather, but that you were even in the UK at all.

Upon entering the space, which is the second biggest conservatory in the city, London Fashion Week attendees were transported to a tropical paradise, RIXO style. On arrival, guests were given a map to guide them around the multi-level conservatory, with RIXO models dotted in and amongst the greenery, lounging on holiday deckchairs, shaking maracas and dancing together decked out in the brand’s latest offering.

The cult British fashion brand has always been fond of prints, bright colour palettes and floaty garments, and has become known for creating the perfect silhouetted dresses—the kind you can throw on and instantly feel elevated. This season co-founders Henrietta Rix and Orlagh McCloskey not only added more crochet, colours, and lace to their rotation, but experimented with new embroidered collars, button-down halter-neck dresses and puff sleeves.

Aptly named Bon Voyage, the new collection is an encapsulation of all things holiday, filled with tropical floral prints and dancer motifs with Hawaiian-style open shirts layered over dresses and blue striped pants paired with a banana-print vest. Fitting the theme, models donned silk headscarves and had flowers in their hair, with many wearing colourful RIXO floral heels. A favourite accessory was the gold starfish belt found wrapped around an equally stunning pink halterneck dress.

RIXO has been a staple in many women’s wardrobes since the brand burst onto the scene in 2015, born in the London living room of its co-founders and best friends. After two years of perfecting new fits, now the label is accessible to even more: this collection marks RIXO’s first fully extended sizing range; from 6 to 20. “We want as many women as possible to feel the best versions of themselves in RIXO. We are so pleased to finally be able to launch a wider size range to make women feel special and truly confident in RIXO,” Rix says of the added size offering.

Surprise rum shacks and a pina colada bar were found on RIXO’s path—with the latter attracting many a RIXO-dressed guest (it was Friday afternoon, after all.) Once the tour was complete, you’d find yourself back on the terrace where you could overlook the entire spectacle, drink in hand, with a live music performance taking place and fruit platters on offer. Winter, whom?
