For Los Angelinos, Giorgio Baldi is among the few restaurants where mingling with celebrities doesn’t feel parasocial. The cosy Italian jaunt tucked into the Santa Monica coastline has become one of the hottest joints in recent years thanks to Rihanna’s penchant for the Northern Tuscan fare. A trait she’s now passing on to her one-year-old son, RZA.
For the uninitiated, when you see paparazzi shots of Rihanna sauntering around the streets of Los Angeles, they’re typically taken outside of the seaside restaurant, or “Baldi”, as the original bad gal calls it. So with the musician and makeup mogul’s brood expanding, the 35-year-old hasn’t traded her pre-baby routine for a maternity friendly one, but rather embraced the joint as her local family-friendly trattoria.
This is, after all, the restaurant that reportedly accommodated an impromptu two-course drive-through dining experience to quell Rihanna’s pregnancy cravings.
For Rihanna’s most recent ‘Baldi’ sighting, the Fenty Beauty founder put her signature unconventional spin on maternity style, this time opting for a streetwear-infused take on “mummy and me” dressing in matching Canadian tuxedos.
In images, which you can view here, Rihanna opted for a pair of Balenciaga graffitied destroyer baggy jeans, a style that features cartoon scribbles similar to something RZA might draw in his later years.
Her top half was completed by a pink satin robe adorned with Benjamin Franklin’s hundred-dollar bill motif, her baby bump proudly exposed.
RZA also wore his miniature-sized version of this look, with a pair of denim jeans and a matching button-up denim jacket.
As Rihanna was leaving the restaurant, she could be seen carrying her son in her arms, the baby’s on-trend tongue-flipped Puma shoes perched in the singer’s hand.
It’s not clear whether Rihanna’s boyfriend and father of her son, A$AP Rocky, joined them for dinner.
However, with the rapper’s latest song causing a stir, we made a particular note to notice the jewellery—or lack of—on Rihanna’s fingers. Indeed, Rocky’s latest single “RIOT (Rowdy Pipe’n)”, features the lyrics: “My wife is erotic, I’m smokin’ exotic,” hinting that the pair have secretly wed.
Rocky’s music video for “D.M.B.” also portrayed the pair walking down the aisle, so it seems the idea of the pair eloping may not be as far-fetched as once believed.
Perhaps Baldi even served as the wedding venue? We wouldn’t put it past them.
