Rihanna has been spending the past few months casually redefining maternity style as we know it, since announcing her first pregnancy with her rapper boyfriend A$AP Rocky. The musician turned fashion and beauty mogul has stepped out in internet-breaking baby bump-baring look after look, including her latest: a maternity version of Coperni’s viral criss cross bra top that Gigi Hadid debuted on the runway in September.
But if you thought RiRi was going to rewrite parenting rules, too, that might not be the case. In fact, she revealed she’s actually already taking tips from other famous mums in the spotlight: those of the Real Housewives franchise.
Though that might come as a surprise to those who are unaware of Rihanna’s Real Housewives STANdom, the singer has never been shy about being a ride-or-die Housewives fan. This includes inserting herself into Real Housewives of New York drama and inviting Kathy Hilton of Real Housewives of Beverly Hills to her parties. Plus, she even said she’d be open to hosting a reunion one day. Bravo, if you don’t make this happen it is the missed opportunity of the era.
As for who Rihanna’s looking to specifically out of the wide array of women in the franchise, she revealed she thinks Heather Dubrow from the Real Housewives of Orange County “is so chic while being a mum.”
“Just love the way that she just allows her kids to be who they are. And that’s really inspiring to me,” she told Elle.com at a Fenty Beauty at Ulta launch party.
Rih added, “Teresa from Jersey does not play about her kids. She will flatten you about those kids. And that resonates with me a lot because I feel like that’s the type of mum I’m going to be. Psycho about it.”
Asked if she saw herself flipping tables — Teresa’s signature move — Rihanna warned she’d do worse. “You talk about my kids, it’s over.” Oh, we believe it.
