Welcome to Take Note – a weekly rolodex of all the best in skin, wellness, and makeup from industry insiders. Each week, we’ll profile one woman who’s privvy to beauty, covering everything from recommendations to routines. Today, we’re talking to Renee Bargh – TV host, influencer, health coach and all-round dream girl (to put it lightly). The Aussie native has spent most of her professional life in the United States working at Extra TV (and The Voice, whilst on home soil), but recently made the decision to relocate back home. Fittingly, the move came at the same time Bargh was announced as the face of Minenssey, an Australian beauty brand that champions the use of native botanicals in its products.

With years worth of experience in front of the camera, Bargh has a wealth of knowledge when it comes to good skincare and even better makeup. From treatments to foundation tips, see Bargh’s complete beauty routine (and a few of her favourite Minenssey products) below.

SKIN

GRAZIA: What does your morning skincare routine look like?

Renee: I like to start the day with a really light cleanse. The Minenssey Hydrating Cleansing Souffle is my favourite. I then follow with the new Minenssey Rejuvenating Nutritious Face & Neck Cream – it’s packed with so many gorgeous natural ingredients (like Red Maple Bark Extract and Kakadu Plum) and keeps my skin super hydrated throughout the day. I follow with a good sunscreen before applying makeup.

GRAZIA: And evening?

Renee: No matter how tired I am, I always take my makeup off and give my skin a good cleanse. I use the Minenssey Hydrating Cleansing Souffle in the evenings again, then follow with a super hydrating serum. I adore the Minenssey Flannel Flower Absolute, as it moisturises my skin while improving elasticity.

I follow with an eye cream – with lots of late nights at red carpet events I need to fight dark circles! The Minenssey Rejuvenating Repairing Eye Balm calms the skin around my eyes and keeps them looking fresh. It also comes with a metal massage head that’s great for nixing puffiness. As a final step, I apply Minenssey Rejuvenating Nutritious Face & Neck Cream. Sometimes I use Minenssey Rejuvenating Superfood Facial Elixir before the cream (say 2-3 times a week), giving myself a lifting massage around the face and neck.

GRAZIA: If you were heading to a deserted island, what three products would make the cut?

Renee:

  • Face oil, because I feel like my skin always feels hydrated and dewy when I use it.
  • Lip balm because no one likes chapped or sun burnt lips! My go-to is the Minenssey Lip Spa Regenerating Balm. It’s formulated with Mango Seed Butter and Lemon Myrtle so it smells delicious.
  • A good SPF sunscreen because it’s impossible for me to stay out of the sun! I’m a water baby.

GRAZIA: Favourite SPF formula?

Renee: I love Heliotrope Tinted Moisturizer because it gives great coverage.

GRAZIA: Treatment you love?

Renee: I love Omnilux – I’ve visit Jocelyn Petroni here in Sydney. Or I love the Laser Genesis facial from All Saints Clinic. My skin responds so well to light and laser therapy. I also like to do gua sha myself at home, and use a clay mask every other night. The Minenssey Brightening Mask is the best. It’s formulated with Moonstone extract, Snow Flower, and Black Clay to nourish, balance and brighten the skin.

GRAZIA: Skincare cheap thrill?

Renee: Lucas Papaw Ointment.

GRAZIA: And splurge?

Renee: Minenssey Rejuvenating Superfood Facial Elixir. It’s a facial oil that’s jam-packed with nourishing superfood seed oils such as Grape, Kakadu Plum, Pomegranate, Passion Fruit, Kale, Camellia, Blackcurrant, Broccoli, and Watermelon. I am obsessed with it! The formula is so lightweight; I love using this with my gua sha if my skin needs a pick-me-up. It gives my a beautiful, healthy glow.

GRAZIA: What’s your go-to method for treating a pimple, fast?

Renee: I try to go to my aesthetician to have them extract it but otherwise, tea tree oil or anything drying.

MAKEUP

GRAZIA: Do you have a makeup muse?

Renee: Rosie Huntington-Whiteley.

GRAZIA: What’s your go-to makeup look?

Renee: Dewy fresh skin, cheek tint, bronzer, highlighter on the cheeks, a natural brown shadow in the crease of the eye and mascara.

GRAZIA: Holy grail foundation?

Renee: Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation. I like to add two drops of Minenssey Flannel Flower Absolute into my foundation – it adds such a nice veil of moisture.

GRAZIA: And most used lip colour?

Renee: Charlotte Tilbury Lip Cheat in Pillow Talk or MAC Lip Pencil in Stripdown.

GRAZIA: Best ever mascara?

Renee: L’Oreal Telescopic Mascara.

GRAZIA: How do you shape and fill your brows?

Renee: I only have them tweezed, and not very often. I fill them with a light shadow powder from MAC.

GRAZIA: Makeup trend you’ll never try?

Renee: Really dark lipstick, because it’s just not practical. I love to wear colour but it’s such a commitment and takes too much maintenance for me.

GRAZIA: Signature fragrance?

Renee: Mousse de chene Le Labo. It’s an exclusive scent that’s really hard to get and is their signature fragrance from Amsterdam, I love the fact that it’s unisex. I’ll probably regret giving away this secret!

GRAZIA: What does your vacation makeup kit look like?

Renee: Tinted moisturiser by Share The Base, sunscreen, waterproof mascara, cheek tint, bronzer and lip balm.

GRAZIA: Is there a quirky makeup trick you can share?

Renee: I’m not sure if it’s quirky but I love using a lipstick as an eye shadow and cheek tint. It saves having to pack too many items in your small bag and keeps it all tonal and natural.

HAIR

GRAZIA: Favourite shampoo and conditioner duo?

Renee: Anything by Kerastase or InCommon.

GRAZIA: Can’t live without styling product?

Renee: InCommon Magic Myst or any sea salt spray.

GRAZIA: Tip for styling hair of your texture?

Renee: Do a loose wave but keeping the ends straight. And don’t over-wash it or use too much product! Heat protector is also must.

GRAZIA: Hair tool you can’t live without?

Renee: A large barrel tong and the Mermade Hair Waver.

GRAZIA: Who cuts and colours your hair?

Renee: In Los Angeles, Riawna Capri at Nine Zero One salon. In Sydney, Di Gorgievski at KODA Cutters.

GRAZIA: Dream hair?

Renee: Zendaya!

WELLNESS

GRAZIA: In a sentence, what’s your approach to wellness?

Renee: I would like to think I have a pretty mindful approach to wellness, prioritising self-care and intuitively listening to my body.

GRAZIA: What’s your philosophy when it comes to food?

Renee: It’s all about balance. Food is supposed to be nourishing but eating should always be an experience.

GRAZIA: What does your day on a plate look like?

Renee: Firstly, I drink a warm tonic, followed by a smoothie for breakfast. Lunch is usually a salad or bowl of vegetables of some sort and dinner is usually fish and roast vegetables or soup. I do love a good bowl of pasta every now and again, though!

GRAZIA: How do you love to move your body?

Renee: I move my body every day. I either take a dance or movement class, Pilates, yoga or HIIT.

GRAZIA: What would your final meal be?

Renee: Pasta! Either mac and cheese or a spicy creamy vodka sauce.

GRAZIA: What tricks do you put in place to ensure you get a good night’s sleep?

Renee: I’m still working on that, but I try to stay off my phone for an hour before bed and sleep with my phone in another room or on airplane mode. A warm bath and my book always helps me to wind down as well.
