Rachel McAdams has opened up about a disturbing encounter she endured with film director James Toback.

The Midnight In Paris actress discussed the incident, which occurred alone in a hotel room with the Harvard Man director, in an interview with Vanity Fair.

McAdams said that similarly to disgraced director Harvey Weinstein, Toback invited her to his hotel room to discuss a potential film role when she was 21 years old.

“He invited me to sit on the floor, which was a bit awkward,” she recalled.

“Pretty quickly the conversation turned quite sexual and he said, ‘You know, I just have to tell you. I have masturbated countless times today thinking about you since we met at your audition.'”

After this, she says, Toback became “manipulative,” asking her things like “How brave are you?” and “How far you are willing to go as an actress?”

McAdams said it only got worse after he excused himself to go to the bathroom.

“When he came back he said, ‘I just jerked off in the bathroom thinking about you. Will you show me your pubic hair?’ I said no,” she recalled.

“Eventually, I just excused myself.”

The 38-year-old star said the incident has plagued her in the decades since.

“This has been such a source of shame for me, that I didn’t have the wherewithal to get up and leave. I kept thinking, ‘This is going to become normal any minute now. This is going to all make sense. This is all above board somehow.’

“Eventually I just realised that it wasn’t.”

The Mean Girls star said she feels “very lucky” that Toback didn’t “physically assault” her.

Selma Blair also recounted an equally disturbing story to Vanity Fair: Toback refused to let her leave his hotel room unless she let him pleasure himself on her leg while she looked into his eyes. When he was finished, he insinuated that he could have her killed if she told anyone about what happened.

Hundreds of women have come forward with sexual abuse allegations against Hollywood directors in the wake of exposes by the New York Times, New Yorker and Los Angeles Times. Harvey Weinstein stands accused of sexual abuse by more than 50 women, while at least 200 have made claims about Toback.
