Prince Harry and Meghan Markle arrived back in the UK last week to join the royal family in celebrating the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, marking her 70 years on the throne. The occasion marked the first time the couple had brought their two children with them to visit Prince Harry’s family and was seemingly a big step towards mending bridges, following their move to California and the drama that ensued afterwards (See also: “Were you silent, or were you silenced?”)

But despite the Duke and Duchess of Sussex attending the royal mass at St. Paul’s Cathedral on Saturday morning alongside Prince William and Kate Middleton, it appears the brothers, their wives, and their respective children, didn’t spend any alone time together during the weekend.

According to Page Six, Prince William, Kate Middleton and their children – Prince George, 8, Princess Charlotte, 7, and Prince Louis, 4 – were invited by the Sussexes to celebrate their daughter Lilibet’s first birthday with a picnic in the backyard of their UK home, Frogmore Cottage, in Windsor, on Saturday, alongside other members of the royal family.

However, the Cambridges and two of their three children, Prince George, 8, and Princess Charlotte, 7, instead headed to Wales for the day to make royal appearances as part of the ongoing Platinum Jubilee celebrations.

Page Six suggests the Sussexes, who left the UK on Sunday prior to the People’s Pageant where the Queen made a final appearance, left without spending any solo time with the Cambridges — nor did their children see their cousins.

A source who is reportedly close to the royals told the publication, “Things are still fraught — William is still wary of spending any time alone with Harry as you never quite know what may be reported back afterwards.”

To mark Lilibet’s birthday, Markle and Prince Harry released a new portrait of their daughter, which was shared by photographer Misan Harriman. Thankfully, it sounds like despite the Cambridges not being present, it was a lovely celebration: “It was such a privilege to celebrate the 1st birthday of Lilibet with my family and hers!” Harriman wrote on Instagram. “Joy and face painting all around.”
