Ahead of the release of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s highly-anticipated upcoming Netflix docuseries, a new trailer has been released confirming the Duke and Duchess of Sussex open up in more detail than ever before about life behind the palace walls.

The new teaser trailer, which coincided with the confirmed date the first episode is going live on the streaming service — December 8th with Volume II following a week late on December 15th — included Harry alleging that not only were stories “leaked” to the press, but some were even “planted” by the Firm.

“It’s really hard to look back on it now and go, ‘What on earth happened?'” the Duke of Sussex says. “There’s a hierarchy of the family. You know, there’s leaking, but there’s also planting of stories.”

“It’s a dirty game,” he continues. A journalist’s voice can then be heard saying, “There was a war against Meghan to suit other people’s agendas,” with another adding, “It’s about hatred, it’s about race.”

Markle then adds, “I realised, they’re never going to protect you.”

“The pain and suffering of women marrying into this institution, this feeding frenzy,” continues Prince Harry, adding, while referring to his late mother Princess Diana, “I was terrified. I didn’t want history to repeat itself.”

“No one knows the full truth,” he adds. “We know the full truth.”

Harry & Meghan, directed by Academy Award-nominated and Emmy-winning director Liz Garbus, will be six episodes long. In a statement, Netflix said the docuseries “paints a picture of our world and how we treat each other.”

“In an unprecedented and in-depth documentary series, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex share the other side of their high-profile love story,” a description reads. “Across six episodes, the series explores the clandestine days of their early courtship and the challenges that led to them feeling forced to step back from their full-time roles in the institution. With commentary from friends and family, most of whom have never spoken publicly before about what they witnessed, and historians who discuss the state of the British Commonwealth today and the royal family’s relationship with the press, the series does more than illuminate one couple’s love story, it paints a picture of our world and how we treat each other.”

“‘Harry & Meghan’ is a never-before-seen look at one of the most-discussed couples in history.”
