Five years after her backside garnered global attention in a form-fitting dress as she carried sister Kate Middleton’s bridal train at the Royal wedding, Pippa Middleton is preparing to walk down the aisle again – but this time for her own nuptials.
On Wednesday Pippa and boyfriend of a year James Matthews announced their engagement, confirming a report by the Daily Mail a day earlier that the hedge fund entrepreneur had popped the question over the weekend.
“Miss Pippa Middleton and Mr James Matthews are delighted to announce they became engaged on Sunday, July 17 and plan to marry next year,” the pair said in a statement via the Press Association.

Kate and Pippa’s father Michael also confirmed the news, saying he was “absolutely thrilled” for the “wonderful couple”, and a Kensington Palace statement said the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are “absolutely delighted”.
She was also pictured wearing her doozy of an engagement ring – a large, square-cut diamond surrounded by a cluster of smaller jewels.
Proving that getting back together with an ex isn’t always doomed, Pippa, 32, and James, 40, first got together in 2012 but broke up before reuniting last year.
Since Pippa’s not technically a member of the Royal family like her sister, she’s not under any obligations when it comes to her wedding, so it’ll be interesting to see whether she and James opt for an extravagant affair or something more intimate.
But her main concern at this time is undoubtedly how she’s going to find a dress that can outdo the now iconic custom Alexander McQueen gown that put Pippa – and her posterior – on the world stage.
