The man who made gold chains sexy again, Paul Mescal, is reportedly engaged to Phoebe Bridgers after two years of dating. The news comes after Irish Mirror reported that the indie singer referred to Mescal as her “fiancé” at Coachella.

“Sh*t. I’m so sad,” was the response I received over text from a colleague. Same.

The actor and singer have reportedly been dating under-the-radar since 2020 after they connected as mutual fans on Twitter. “Finished Normal People and now I’m sad and horny – oh, wait…”, Bridgers first wrote on Twitter. The lead actor of the series quickly replied, “I’m officially dead.”

In December 2020 they collaborated on Bridgers’ music video “Saviour Complex” after Mescal confirmed in an interview with GQ that he was dating someone, but was reluctant to name the mystery woman. “To have someone to lean on through such a mad, mad time has been invaluable,” he told the publication. “Really, I don’t know where I’d be without her.”

It wasn’t until the 2021 LACMA Art+Film Gala in November the following year that the loved-up duo took their relationship public when they attended the event arm-in-arm.

Mescal rose to fame in the television adaption of Sally Rooney’s Normal People where he starred alongside Daisy Edgar-Jones thus launching the perennial allure of the simple gold chain. If you know, you know.  Earlier this year, he was spotted in Melbourne, Australia, where he is filming a new science-fiction movie, Foe, alongside Saoirse Ronan and Lakeith Stanfield.

As for Bridgers, she is best known for hit songs like “Motion Sickness” and “Kyoto”. The 27-year-old released her debut album Stranger in the Alps in 2017.

Now we just wait for all the pictures of the ring.
