SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA: When Alibi – the plant-based restaurant tucked inside the Ovolo Hotel in Woolloomooloo – first opened in 2018, I talked about the Heirloom Tomato and Zucchini Lasagne for days. I remember trying to replicate the famous raw vegan dish by internationally renowned chef Matthew Kenney; sun-dried tomato marinara, macadamia ricotta, pistachio pesto. Tick, tick, tick.
In fact, from the Kelp Noodle Cacio E Pepe to the coconut and spinach-based Kimchi Dumplings, Alibi’s entire menu makes you feel this way; comfort food powered entirely by plants. And now, the bar and kitchen is creating private dining rooms inside Ovolo’s hotel rooms on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights.
From May 15, Restaurant In Room hits Sydney as Ovolo’s rooms are transformed into the innovative date spot or a space for an overdue dose of R n’ R. Situated at the iconic Woolloomooloo Wharf, couples can get dressed up and sit down to a private dinner by the water, complete with music on vinyl and their own (socially distant) bartender.
You don’t need to be staying at the hotel to enjoy the dining experience either – but you can book an overnight stay should you wish.
Limited bookings are available so get in quickly to order up on the Spicy Udon and Activated Charcoal Ravioli.

Bookings are subject to availability. A maximum of 2 guests per room to allow for responsible social distancing. Dinner must be redeemed on the night of booking and must be served between 6pm – 10pm.
