The nominations for the 91st Academy Awards have been announced, revealing Hollywood’s biggest winners and record breakers for 2019.

The Favourite and Roma scored the most nods, with each film clocking up 10 nominations. Both were nominated for Best Picture, with Black Panther, BlacKkKlansman, Bohemian Rhapsody, Green Book, Vice and A Star Is Born rounding out the category.

Lady Gaga received a nomination for Best Actress for her performance in A Star Is Born, making history as the first person to be nominated for both Best Actress and Best Original Song. She’s up against Yalitza Aparicio (Roma), Glenn Close (The Wife), Olivia Colman (The Favourite) and Melissa McCarthy (Can You Ever Forgive Me?).

Her A Star Is Born co-star Bradley Cooper was nominated for Best Actor, competing against Christian Bale (Vice), Willem Dafoe (At Eternity’s Gate), Rami Malek (Bohemian Rhapsody) and Viggo Mortensen (Green Book).

Another history-making moment is Black Panther’s recognition– it’s the first superhero film to ever receive a Best Picture nomination. Similarily, Roma, a Netflix film, is the first movie from a streaming platform to be included in the category.

The 2019 Academy Awards will take place on February 24 in Los Angeles. See the top categories below and the full list on the official Oscars website.
