In the early hours of Friday morning, Orlando Bloom made the decision to set his private Instagram account public. It’s not clear why the actor made the switch – he might have caved to pressure from film execs who expect actors to promote their movies, or maybe he just lost a bet.
Whatever the reason, we’ve been given an instant window into the life of a fascinating man. Bloom has played roles in some of the biggest films of our time, including the Pirates Of The Caribbean and Lord Of The Rings sagas, and is in a relationship with one of the world’s top stars – Katy Perry – and has a son with one of the world’s most successful models, Miranda Kerr. Intriguing, no?
Going back through his old posts (and feeling just a tad creepy about it), here’s what we learned.
1. He had a good laugh about those nude photos
In case you missed it (and if so, you need to get up to speed immediately) photos were published of Orlando completely nude on a paddleboard with Katy Perry recently. It seems he’s been able to have a good laugh about the whole thing, because he posted a video of himself running down a jetty while still on the vacation where he was photographed and captioned it “When you are chasing down the guy who stole your swimming trunks”.
2. He and Miranda really are on good terms
Miranda has reiterated in interviews since her divorce from Orlando that the ex-couple are still on good terms, largely for the sake of their son Flynn. The proof is in the comment section on the above photograph, on which Miranda commented ‘Nice one!’. It seems friendly exes really do exist.
3. He hasn’t posted a photo of Katy (but her voice features)
In a strangely mesmerising video, Orlando is playing with water bombs, and Katy’s voice can be heard saying ‘they’re like little eggs’ and ‘oh my god’. She’s barely visible behind him in a selfie from Burning Man, but it doesn’t really count. Which brings us to the next thing.
4. He was at Burning Man with Katy
Orlando shared a grainy video of himself in Black Rock City in standard Burning Man costume: a colourful scarf, mirrored sunglasses and a bucket hat. When Katy Perry posted pictures from the arts and culture festival it wasn’t known if her man was there too, but now we know he was. You can rest easy knowing we’ve answered this urgent question.
5. He posted about his sex tape
No, really, he posted a photo of a roll of tape with the word ‘sex’ on it. Bloom’s account reveals that he does like to have a joke. Another amusing update is a photo of a ‘strapless thong’, whatever that is, which seemed to thoroughly confuse him.
6. But he’s also a thinker
Several posts are of philosophical quotes, including words from 13th-century Persian poet Rumi. Deep.
7. He loves being a dad
Orlando’s account reveals several photos of Flynn, including father and son time in Central Park.
