At six-years-old, Kim Kardashian and Kanye West’s daughter, North, has already proven she wants to follow in her mum and Yeezy designer dad’s footsteps when it comes to fashion, often wearing custom-made runway pieces to fit children’s sizes and matching with her mum for events and family gatherings.
But when she stepped out of the house wearing a top-to-toe white ensemble in the days leading up to Christmas and holding a Hermès Birkin bag, estimated to cost around $15,000 AUD, the look instantly went viral with many taking the opportunity to joke about how iconic it is for a primary schooler to already own one of the most expensive handbags in the world and others condemning Kardashian-West for letting her young daughter carry something so expensive.
Attending her dad’s showing of his opera Mary at the Lincoln Centre in New York City before Christmas, North wore her mum’s Skiims range with a pearl necklace and her hair in two buns while clutching her expensive bag, which was likely (read: hopefully) lent to her by Kardashian-West for the evening to match her outfit.
This isn’t the only time Hermès has featured in the Kardashian-West’s holiday season, either. A few days after North’s history-making ensemble, Kris Jenner surprised her granddaughter, Stormi Webster, with a huge playhouse in the backyard, similar to that her mum, Kylie, owned when she was a child.
In the video shared to YouTube, Kylie tells her one-year-old that there’s a present for her outside to which she replies, “Birkin?”
Then on Christmas Day, Kylie showed off five – yes, five- brand new Hermès Birkin and Kelly bags to add to her ever-growing collection.
At least we know what to buy the family who has it all for Christmas: more of the bags they have.
