The carousel slideshow on Instagram is yesteryear’s news. Boomerang, you’re still on the cusp of alright. And how glad was everyone when Insta-stories introduced the fine-scribble? While images you see during your nightly meander of the feed are undoubtedly the bi-product of many an application, it’s the cool, new ones that stop you in your scrolling tracks. Usually they are tapped first by models (Romee Stridj, what is that editing app you just used in Paris?) and slowly but surely they trickle down to the regular girls night out. Here are the three apps and updates we’re obsessed with at the moment.

VHS CAMCORDER

Taylor Hill (and her model friends Stridj and Sara Sampaio) surely made the creators of this basic camcorder app some overnight cash money. Compatible with iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch (you must have iOS 8 or later) this app allows you to shoot video (or upload stored videos into it) and give footage a 1984 home video camera aesthetic. By clicking on “Menu” on the left hand-side, you can list the video’s title which will appear in the middle of the screen just like the old days. (Hint: Take cues from Hill and leave the “(Press Menu To Edit)” tab or get rid of it completely by clicking the “Titiler” button on the right. While only one filter, it’s super flattering to even the most champagne-affected friend at your dinner table.

KIRA KIRA +

Coined London’s Fashion Week’s breakout Instagram star, the Kira Kira app adds extra sparkle to your videos. While working best on anything that already shimmers (Fenty illuminators, glitter-coated heels, fairylights at your local bar), simply open your app, choose a filter (GRAZIA prefers Kira Kira or Shine) and shoot footage. The video will save to your camera roll. The only downside is you have to shoot footage in real time, you can’t upload a stored video but given it’s newfound popularity, we anticipate this will be the next update. Endorsed by Rosie Huntington-Whitely, you’ll develop an eye for anything that glistens just to use this app.

TINDER

There is a reason this guy is the world’s leading social app for meeting new people. But just like you can add a timely sticker to your Insta-story, Tinder has now introduced Reactions. Designed by the women of Tinder, you can actually a) send a cyber jerk an eye-roll or b) throw a cyber martini in his face. Or for the nice guys, you can send hearts, send laughs or even a round of applause to clever-minded humans. It’s cute, it’s quick (just tap the smiley icon and select a Reaction) and adds a little emotional play into a conversation proving once and for all (re)actions really do speak louder than words. And if you’re not feeling your match, you can simply swipe to “un-match”. To start using Tinder Reactions, update your app now.
