Donald Trump is set to be sworn in as President of the United States on Friday local time (Saturday AEST), and the lack of talent willing to perform at the Inauguration has become laughable. At last count, Three Doors Down, who haven’t had a hit since 2002 and America’s Got Talent contestant Jackie Evancho are the most high-profile names confirmed.

If an artist is no longer living, then obviously they can’t protest to their music featuring in the formalities. Trump might have thought there couldn’t possibly be any resistance to the use of Frank Sinatra’s hit My Way being played for the President and First Lady’s first dance, but the icon’s daughter, Nancy Sinatra, has shown her disapproval.

When someone tweeted her asking if the Sinatra family was okay with the song being played, she replied ““Just remember the first line of the song.”

The first line of My Way? “And now, the end is near.” Fitting, for the majority of the American people – and all those watching from around the world – who are deeply uncomfortable with much of what Trump has indicated he’ll do when he takes office.
