For the last 10 years, My Chameleon has stood as a kind of antithesis to the mass commercialism of the Australian retail industry. Instead of pushing mass-produced wares or cookie-cutter labels (which possess wide commercial appeal but really not much else), it has fostered creativity and originality in fashion, design and the arts, presenting an impeccable range of local and international brands both niche and interesting.

A pioneer since its inception in 2009, it has also bridged the geographical gap between Australia and the rest of the world; our gateway to some of today’s most covetable and cult brands – the first Australian retailer to pick up Jacquemus, Le17 Septembre and Basserange. Perhaps it’s this, founder Giselle Farhat’s discernible, seemingly prophetic eye that is the key to its success. They know how to pick them, but equally so, they know how to support young, up-and-coming talent. (Earlier this year My Chameleon expanded to include MC Gallery an online platform dedicated to presenting an artful gathering of local and international artists).

To mark its milestone 10th anniversary, the online atelier takes its ephemeral store to the physical, setting up shop – quite literally – with a new concept, In Residence. A purposeful space to experience the online boutique’s offering across fashion, beauty and interiors, it provides a physical environment to showcase My Chameleon for the very first time.

In partnership with Room on Fire and Cult and Cadrys, the design-led space offers a curatorial shopping experience, with limited private appointments with My Chameleon’s director and founder, Giselle Farhat available. Meaning you can get up close and personal with Le17 Septembre’s singular tailoring, Sophie Buhai’s sublime silverware or Dion Lee’s celebrated corsetry, instead of via a screen. Plus, gain insightful industry advice from Farhat herself.

Cultivating a wardrobe of new classics has always been key for My Chameleon, but so too has curiosity and a good dose of quirk. With a philosophy that steps away from a life of excess and towards an appreciation of sincerity, quality and modernity; the My Chameleon woman is complex, sophisticated and refined. But perhaps above all else, she appreciates unbridled, forward-thinking creativity not just in her wardrobe, but all facets of life.

In Residence takes place from Tuesday the 19th November to Wednesday the 20th November and marks the first in a series of events to celebrate this milestone.
