Contouring went a little crazy there for a minute, didn’t it? The makeup craze that was seemingly spawned from a single Kim Kardashain selfie sure started out innocent enough, but then quickly spiralled into the internet telling us to bake our makeup and multi-colour our faces like a clown all in the quest to create an even, flawless complexion.

On the flipside is the other makeup trend of 2015, the barely-there face. A firm favourite at fashion week, it was clear when Apple stopped auto-deleting the second ‘makeup’ in ‘no makeup makeup’ that the paired-back base was here to stay.

In a meeting of the two trends comes a new beauty craze: multi-masking. Stealing the paint-by-number technique of contouring to simultaneously wear several masks at once, all to win you the ultimate skin prize of not needing to wear as much makeup.

“Each person will notice the skin on different parts of their face will have varying needs, whether it be an oily T-Zone with drier patches on the cheeks or around the chin area. The idea of multi-masking ensures each part of the skin is being tailored to and getting the treatment it needs,” explains Ben Ferguson, Kiehl’s National Education Manager.

Everyone’s face map will be different, but use this cheat sheet to find the right mask to match you.
