The definition of a mother is a fluid one. Some women are single mothers, some are trying (and trying again) to fall pregnant, some are first-time mothers, some are mothers to many children, some are mothers to babies who didn’t quite make it in this world… the list goes on.
For Mother’s Day, Sydney-based business Bump Day Spa have released a campaign, #SheIsDeserving, for every woman, no matter where she is in her womanhood journey. Directed and produced by MuM: Misunderstandings of Miscarriage creators Tahyna McManus and Kelly Tomasich, the campaign aims to spotlight the many highs and lows of being a woman in this wayward world – and the different journeys we go through when we enter motherhood, each of us as deserving as the woman next to us in the coffee shop.
Bump Day Spa is reputably known as a pregnancy day spa (and notably for their specialised pre and post-natal pampering). But this Mother’s Day, owners Tegan Natoli and Kerry Crossling are pushing the promotion of a nurturing space for all women, no matter who you are.
“We want to remove the stigma that self-care is a luxury that needs to be ‘earned’,” says Natoli. “Self-care is a necessity for the emotional, physical and psychological transitions that occur during every woman’s journey.”
In the clip above, you will see some familiar faces: Zoe Marshall, Leigh Campbell, Keira Rumble and Amy Gerard all sharing glimpses of their own unique experiences.
Bump Day Spa have a special pamper package on offer at the moment; the She Is Deserving package. (Read: a soothing foot bath, a 60-minute full body massage, a petit facial, a head and scalp massage and the spa’s signature barefoot ritual.)
In addition, during the month of May $10 of each She Is Deserving package sold will be donated to charity Share The Dignity, a not-for-profit helping to end period poverty and give all women access to safe sanitary products.
