I’m putting it out there – when it comes to moisturiser, oily and acne-prone types tend to get second rate treatment. It’s not that we don’t get catered to at all, because there are plenty of options out there that work for complexions that are prone to congestion. But when a brand is creating an innovative new moisturiser formula, traditionally it’s made with normal to dry skin in mind.

Thankfully that’s now changing, as a lot more brands are investing in lighter iterations of their most popular moisturisers so that oilier types get to enjoy the benefits, too. They’re also an excellent option for warmer weather as they tend to be less thick, which is perfect if you’re currently seeing out the summer season in the US and Europe (like me!). So if you’re in the market for a new cream that hydrates without the heaviness, scroll on.

Augustinus Bader The Light Cream, $245 SHOP NOW

As a huge fan of Augustinus Bader’s innovative moisturisers – The Rich Cream and The Cream, respectively – I was ecstatic to see that the brand had introduced a new lighter version of its cult formulas. This iteration creates a mattifying effect on the skin, giving my skin a boost of hydration while also reducing shine.

Go-To Skincare Very Lightweight Moisturiser, $55 SHOP NOW

After the success of Go-To’s Very Useful Face Cream, the brand has now introduced a gel-cream formula that provides the same lasting hydration with a soft matte finish. The thin texture of the cream feels weightless on the skin, so if you hate wearing moisturiser, this is the one for you.
