This is something you’re not going to object to. Mindy Kaling – everyone’s favourite comedienne – is joining forces with everyone’s favourite attorney, Elle Woods, in the third instalment of Legally Blonde.
According to Deadline, Kaling has signed on to co-write the script for Legally Blonde 3 alongside Emmy Award-winning Parks and Rec creator, Dan Goor.
Kaling, who co-created Never Have I Ever, confirmed the news yesterday via Twitter, announcing: “So excited to be reunited with my friends @ReeseW, Lauren Neustadter and @djgoor to work on this movie,” she wrote. “Elle Woods is so iconic, proving you can be girly and smart at the same time. Bend and snap people!” Indeed!

Reese Witherspoon is set to reprise her role as Elle Woods and produce the third film of the Legally Blonde franchise under her Hello Sunshine banner.
While it doesn’t have a release date, the threquel has been in the works for almost two years, but Kaling and Goor will produce an all-new script for the hotly anticipated third chapter. It’s also the second project the writing duo have signed on for, with the pair penning a wedding comedy starring Kaling and Priyanka Chopra.
As for what Elle Woods will be up to next, time will only tell. But with the hilarious Mindy Kaling behind her, we have no doubt it will be brilliant. Bring on the bending and snapping.
